Challenge
Early-stage brands, entrepreneurs, and nonprofits often can't access agency-level creative support — and there's little practical, real-world education available for creators trying to learn performance ad creative themselves.
Goal
Build a creative practice that could serve budget-conscious clients profitably, while also creating genuinely useful educational content for the broader creator community — on camera, not just in written guides.
Solution
I founded HUMADE to provide branding, web design, and Meta ad creative consulting for small businesses and nonprofits, reaching profitability and a double-digit client roster within the first three months by leveraging professional and community networks. I introduced a name-your-own-price request form to make design services accessible to nonprofit and low-budget clients who couldn't afford standard rates.
Alongside the client work, I created and hosted educational YouTube videos on camera under the HUMADE brand, teaching creators practical, hands-on creative and advertising skills. The channel grew to 20,000+ views and 2,500+ subscribers within a few months.
Case Study
Top viewed videos taught how to create a brand from scratch, or how to build an ad design process. Every video included free resources, with the option to purchase ready-to-customize templates.
I established a video studio in my living room, bought the biggest soft box I could, and learned how to read from a teleprompter without sounding like a robot. The real joy was finding ingenious ways to maintain attention through effective YouTube script writing, visual hooks, and useful content. It wasn't long before I gained a healthy roster of small businesses, assisting them with their emerging brands, MVP websites, and initial positioning.

What happened:
The videos led to a part-time position at Pacific Design Academy in Victoria, BC where I instructed students on Design Fundamentals, Copywriting, UI/UX, Design Portfolios, and more. This position spanned a full school year, and included an invitation to give the presentation "Good vs Effective Design" at Design Victoria, 2026.
While I love sharing what I know with students, my current focus is on my full time career.
